A year at our school
Transition to School - Kindergarten
To assist future Kindergarten students and their families with the transition to school life, we run the ‘Bluey's Small Steps, Big Futures’ program. This involves an initial parents and carers information session in Term 3 for all prospective Kindergarten students. Parents and carers are provided with an overview of Early Stage 1 outcomes and general information to assist in familiarisation with our school. Staff will cover additional areas including, Key Learning Areas in the NSW curriculum, student wellbeing, supporting children with additional needs at school and non-local enrolment procedures. This is complemented with additional transition days to assist with limited preschool experience transition to an educational setting ready for school.
During Term 4, additional parent information sessions are held during Orientation sessions. The sessions cover topics including Kindergarten Orientation programs, school services, supporting literacy and numeracy at home and specific information about school routines and procedures and parent workshops. Orientation sessions are for students enrolling to commence Kindergarten the following year.
Debating and Public Speaking
Our Public Speaking and Debating programs empower students to develop strong communication skills, critical thinking, and confidence. Through engaging activities and competitions, students learn to express their ideas clearly, construct persuasive arguments, and think on their feet. Whether debating current issues or delivering prepared speeches, our participants gain valuable experience that supports their academic growth and personal development.
We are very proud of the achievements of our teams of debaters who participated in several rounds of the Premier’s Debating Challenge, along with the student who represented SPS at the regional Public Speaking finals.

Culture Group and NAIDOC Day celebrations
Our school is proud to run a comprehensive and vibrant Cultural Program dedicated to supporting and celebrating the identity, heritage, and traditions of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. This program plays a vital role in nurturing a strong sense of pride and belonging among Indigenous students by honouring their unique cultural backgrounds in a respectful and meaningful way.
Each year our school community comes together to celebrate NAIDOC Day which includes a diverse range of activities, art, dance, and community connections.

Touch Football Success
Semi-Final Victory!!
A huge congratulations to our incredible Girls Touch Football team for their outstanding performance in the semi-final match today! Facing off against Wiripaang Public School, our team showed determination, skill, and great teamwork to secure a well-deserved 10–6 win.
Despite the hot morning conditions, the girls gave it their all on the field, demonstrating resilience and sportsmanship throughout the game. Their passing, defence, and strategic plays were truly impressive, keeping the opposition on their toes from start to finish.
With this fantastic victory, our team has now secured their spot in the Finals, where they will face off against Old Bar Public School!
This is a huge achievement, and SPS couldn’t be prouder of the hard work and commitment each player has shown to get to this stage.
